steps to order for eyeglasses

Step1 : Get ready   prescription and pupil distance(PD)

Step2 : Find frame of yours

          •  Find out what’s your size of frame by measuring total width of your present eyeglasses.

(total width : form outside to outside on front of frame)

Small  size frame : total width   125 ~ 129 mm

Midium size frame : total width 130 ~ 134 mm

Large  size frame : total width   135 ~ 139 mm

X-large size frame : total width – more than 139 mm

          •  You can search frame of yours by using the main menu classified by the size of  total width

(small/medium/large.. frame.)first and refine further by using sub menu (men/women/metal/

              plastic/semi-rimless...)

           •  If you want to see the specific brand frames, click the brand menu found at the

              left-hand side of the homepage

           •  If you want to find frame with the exact frame ID which is written inside of frame temple ,

enter it in the search box found at the top right-hand side.

           •   Find frame of your shape & colour : refer the tips for frame selection

Step3: Choose the types of  glasses and enter the prescription/PD.

Due to some measurement requirements, the bi-focal and multi-focal/progressive  eyeglasses would

only be ordered at our retail store)

          How to read your prescription

                                                       Sample prescription

  SPH CYL AXIS ADD
O.D -2.50 -1.00 015 +2.00
O.S pl -0.75 165 +2.00

            O.D : means right eye    /    O.S : means left eye    /   O.U : means both eye

SPH(Sphere) : the main amount of correction needed to see clearly

                                     - sign : nearsighted / + sign : farsighted / pl : plano = 0.00

CYL(Cylinder) : the amount of correction needed to correct astigmatism

•the majority of optometrist write the cylinder value with a minus sign while the majority of

opthalmologists  write the cylinder value with a plus sign in front. These are just two different

ways to write the same  spectactacle prescription.

AXIS : written in degrees which is the precise location where the astigmatism

                      is found( 0 to 180°)

ADD : an additional plus power over your single vision prescription to bring

reading and anything up close into focus(usually for the one over age

of 40 / reading , bifocal or progressive prescription)

            •   If you don't see numbers in some of the boxes (if there is no CYL or  AXIS or ADD),

leave those values blank when ordering

        ·   •   It is common for the doctor to leave out the decimal points.

If you see a number like -75 or +125, it is understood that your doctor  means -0.75 or +1.25,

respectively. Also, an axis of 5 (or 05) is the same  as 005 and 90 is the same as 090.

·•   If you have no astigmatism in one or both eyes, your doctor may just  write the sphere power

alone, or may use placeholders like sph ("sphere") instead.

·•   If you have a prescription for bifocals, and you only see one ADD power,it's understood that

you have the same ADD for both eyes. If you don't see an  ADD power, leave it blank.

. What is PD and How to measure your PD

Your PD or Pupillary Distance is the the distance between the center of the pupil in one eye

and the center of the pupil of your other eye. If you do not have an accurate PD measurement ,

the optical center of the lenses in your glasses may not line up correctly with your pupils

PD plays a major part in deciding how correct will be your vision and how comfortable will be your

eyewear experience, so proper care must be taken while measuring it. Using an instrument

called a " pupillometer" is more accurate method to measure PD. This instrument can be used

by an optician to use reflections of light from the cornea to determine the exact pupil center.

PD for distance glasses is usually 3~4 mm longer than PD for reading glasses.

The other way measuring PD by you is using millimeter ruler measuring the distance between

the center of your pupils by a friend being at distance  of about arms length away from you.

but it is not the most accurate way to determine your PD.  You will be much happier with your

new glasses if you have an accurate measurement.. In case of measuring  the pupillary

distance for kids, who are less likely to stay still, it is always better to take

the measurements through professional optician.       ·

       ·    If you have two different numbers for PD, you have either been given  both the Distance/Reading or

            Right Eye/Left Eye:

            ex)      •  62 ( total PD = right +left )

                       •  60/57 : distance/reading PD

                       •  30.5/29.5 : right /left  PD (this can be 60 in total)

you can fill out PD right/left separately or totally(seperate PD is more accurate)
